Scrappy a.k.a. "the 'S' Man", "Scrappy Dappy Doo", "the Scrapster"![]() Scrappy first started hanging around our building in the summer of 2000. I gave him the name "Scrappy" because he was skinny, begging for food and always fighting with the other cats. After months of working with him, I finally won his trust. In fact, he is down right lovable at times. One of the things I cherish about him is when he gets up on my chest while I am lying in bed and he rubs his face against mine over and over. The entire time he is giving me "headbutts", he purrs like crazy. Scrappy no longer fights with the other cats. In fact, he absolutely loves Baby Foo-Foo and allows Foo to tackle him to the ground and play "rough house". Scrappy still spends a lot of time outside. He is a great hunter. It is not unusual for him to find a nest of snakes and bring them home, one by one, until he has gotten every single one of them. I have learned not to walk around in my bare feet! Scrappy is also quite the talker, as you can see from one of his pictures. Sometimes he will go on and on as if he is telling me all about his day! I love my little Scrapster! |
Panther a.k.a. the "Big Dope", "P.K.", "Panther Kitty"![]() Panther just appeared in my neighborhood one day during the summer of 2001. Where he came from is still a mystery. He was already a full grown cat and was very friendly towards people, but not towards other cats. He had not been neutered yet, so he was very aggressive towards my other cats. In fact, he had bitten my little girl cat, Jezebel, so badly that she got an infection and had to get medical attention. Panther attacked one of my other cats, Leonard, in the parking lot of the apartment building where I live, leaving Leonard's fur all over the place. It was obvious that no one in the neighborhood was interested in taking him in, so once again, I assumed responsibility for another stray cat. I took him to the vet to get neutered and made sure he got all of his shots. Boy, what a different cat he was after being neutered! Most of his aggression disappeared. He is now a big dope. I say that affectionately! I compare Panther to a football player...tough as can be, but not much going on upstairs! Sometimes Panther disappears for a day or two at a time.; When he does come around, he comes inside, goes directly to the food, from there he walks over to the scratching post, and from there he goes directly to his kitty bed. He is so predictable. And, because Panther is sometimes gone for a day or two, when he does show up, we are all so happy to see him you would think he was a movie star! |
